COURSE OBJECTIVES

Linguistic objectives (EFL)
stress phonetic improvement and oral fluency;
focus on classroom English.
Pedagogic objectives
are centered on active classroom practice, including presentations, debates, fieldwork and a variety of exercises;
foster comparisons between the English and the French syllabi and teaching methods;
encourage a hands-on approach to teaching resources used in English schools (textbooks, videos, websites and other resources);
lead to the elaboration of course material suited to European section needs.
Cultural objectives
aim to explore selected historical, geographical and economic themes relevant to "European Section" teaching;
highlight selected issues of contemporary British civilisation;
develop acquaintance with the history and geography of Cambridge and its region.
